It occurs to me that my overall quality of life (not to mention standard of living) has a strong positive correlation with weight and radicalism. That is, the fatter and more political I get, the better my life seems to be in general.

If I were to use the level of scientific inquiry common to most commonly reported scientific discoveries (Tomatoes, good for you! 400,000 fat people die yearly!), I could clearly deduce that being fat and liberal makes you happier and likely to earn more money. Ergo, everyone should gain weight and join some liberal activist organizations.

It's no more absurd than many other "scientific" conclusions. I just have a smaller sample size.

A pretty cool article: the HRC reports on religious organizations that welcome gay membership. My parents could have used this when they started looking for a church a few months ago.

There's also a list of links to major churches and their positions on homosexuality among its leaders. Almost none of them have anything to say to transfolk, which is sad, but it's good to see some of the Protestants here in the US becoming less asshattish and wankerly.

Someone emailed me yesterday and jokingly asked when my book was coming out. Made my freaking week.

If you were going to write a book, what would it be about?

ETA - I think mine would be largely editorial. Possibly a more organized version of the stuff I post here, tailored into a sort of political self-help book. Or a research study on class, stress & health. Or I could write about doing art off the side of your desk. Short answer: I don't know.
