is this my garden, and nothing

This week MIT want to tell me about the Disruptive Internet Trend of... early 2000s E/N sites. Now known as "digital gardens"

They have collages! And artistic imagery! They're not just blogs, you can post anything there! And they don't have to be perfectly curated around your personal brand; you can just talk about your life and be human! Not that MIT's journalists linked to or collected anything but people's reading lists. 

I'm feeling pretty snarky and more than a bit hipsterish about people Discovering This Thing that I actively did 20 years ago. 

But. I loved them then, and I think the feed-based world that followed and then twisted everyone up into convenient marketing packages did lose something for all of us. Something we maybe miss more now. I'm pretty sure that everyone, self included, has a lot of feelings right now. And not as many in-person interactions to move through those feelings. 

Even the reading list collections are rather pretty - this one with pictures of where she read each book is my favorite.
