i was going to get angry, but this is just so stupid

HP does a camera with a slimming effect.

It makes people look further away, and slightly older. It doesn't actually make them look thinner. But I suppose the point isn't that it works so much as it is that you're supposed to want it to work.

Funny how much stock we put in how we look in photos, isn't it? The camera and the mirror and the eye only capture something vaguely related to reality as is. And apparently there's enough market for photos that prove us thinner than we are that at least one focus group must have bought on to the whole idea. What would you use a fake thinner photo for? Are these things mostly going to be used by Weight Watchers (you know, motivation... this could be you in just 8 short weeks)?

that's just dumb.

I was incredulous when I read about this on BFB the other day. And what a crock that you can find the slimming effect under "Artistic Effects". Ha!

does anyone else find it weird that they used skinny girls for their 'slimming effect'?

I wanna go try one out on fat folk! I bet it doesn't work as well.

It doesn't work on the skinny model either! You know who it would work on? People with really wide heads.

Hey, don't discriminate against the big-headed!

I think you could make some fun political art with it... you know, skinnify your toaster, fridge, etc.

This actually gave me a warm fuzzy, indirectly. Daring Fireball: This is just sick.

not to mention, the "skinny" bar seems to be in the middle, which implies to me that you could "fatten" people as well. that's what IIIIII wanna do!!

Actually, it looks like HP does seven cameras with the slimming effect. They're turning it into a basic camera feature that soon nobody will be able to buy an HP camera without. :-O

Off the topic, however: I just noticed that the present I got you has been mysteriously delayed and now has an estimated delivery date of October 18 to November 3. I guess this is what I get for trying to send you a really unusual book! Anyway, Amazon is asking me to confirm that it should still be sent at all, because the delay is so long. And before I confirm it, I just wanted to make absolutely sure that you've arranged for mail sent to your old address to be forwarded to your new one, because I know your old address is the one it's currently schedule to be shipped to. So could you confirm that, please?
