After the first episode of annoying ER-esque drama, Carnivale is back to its usual opacity. Whew. I was worried. Does anyone other than me actually watch the show, though?

In other slightly odd news, I think my feet may be shrinking. I put on a pair I'd bought last year this morning, and it was like I was a little kid wearing my mom's heels - there was a pronounced gap between my foot and my shoe all around. My feet are small enough as-is. GRRR.

This weekend, I watched a couple of movies, caught a teeny little cold, and spent entirely too much on dance-related stuff.

Everyone I know watches Carnivale. :) I liked season 2 ep 2 more than season 2 ep 1 because: more Jonesy. more Sophie. That's pretty much why I watch!

Ah, Sophie. I love the Sophie. I loved the coochie dancer who got offed in s. 1, too, so I hope that doesn't bode ill for Sophie.

coochie dancer #1's fate was HORRIFYING. i keep hoping they will go back and get her at some point. aigh.

i think sophie is pretty much doomed at this point but i really really hope we don't end up with a "no matter how hard the woman tries she's still only playing a supporting part in the whole massive thing".

i love carnivale. its the strangest thing. a lot of people i know hate that show. i think they just don't get it.

we saw "in good company" (quite good) and then rented a handful of movies we thought would be bad/cheesy cause of my teeny cold: "troy" (ass, basically), "harold & kumar go to white castle" (fun, in tradition of "eurotrip" and "dude, where's my car"), "dirty dancing/havana nights" (the ESSENCE of ass).

oh, but such pretty ass was "troy". except poor legolas, all greased up - ew!

am contemplating "in good company" for next weekend, 'specially since a recent newsweek profile essentially declared young topher the best actor of his generation. so... is he in our generation, or younger? and is he all that? i really only know him from promos for that tv show, which i've never actually watched, and his awesome cameo in "ocean's 12".

he's... cute. but all that? i don't think. i guess he's our generation (born in 78, according to imdb).

although, funny story - alan was all acting 65 in the movie, cause there were a gang of 15 year old girls behind him saying "aaaaa, he's so hot" everytime the topher appeared.

heh. environchemgrrl and i were doing that "he's sooo cute" thing, then got into argument over whether matt damon was in fact so cute. i disagreed, as did the woman sitting behind us.

I love Carnivale. I watched the first season, then lost HBO when I moved. I've been reading on TWOP, and am having a mini-marathon with a friend soon, though. :)

On the shoe thing (and showing my utter ignorance of bellydance): Do you point your toes a lot in your dance classes? My sister was a ballet/pointe dancer up until college, and it made a noticeable difference in her shoe size: pointy toe --> higher arch --> shorter heel-to-toe length --> smaller shoe size. (And no shoes ever had built-up enough arch supports for her). I never had that problem; I do tap rather than ballet.

Or it could just be that it's REALLY FRIGGIN' COLD and your feet have shrunk accordingly. (I've been having to keep a close eye on my suddenly-too-loose wedding ring for just that reason....)

I never knew that about ballet. I think yoga has the opposite effect; we practice spreading our toes out and grounding ourselves on bare feet, and I have gone from an 8 1/2 to a 9.

I didn't know that about yoga. So, theoretically, my foot would be more likely to expand, since I'm doing yoga but not ballet.

well, it's entirely anecdotal based on my own feet! If your arch is getting higher as a result of better posture, your feet could be a smaller size?

Huh, I hadn't thought about that. I think bellydance is foot-size neutral. A little bit of foot pointing, but a lot of flat-footed stuff.

I don't think it's totally the cold, since my other shoes fit the same, but it may be making the whole foot thing more noticeable - I've noticed other older shoes feeling a little big, but nothing like this until this am.
