aiee! i'm dressed like a republican!

When I went to the votey place this morning, the woman who asked me what ballot I wanted told me I was dressed like a Republican (well, after I told her I was voting Republican today).

Is there a "republican" way to dress? And if so, what is it? I'm flummoxed.

I felt surprisingly bad for the Democrat guy whose ballot I did not ask for, but I felt a little less bad when I checked in on the VA Dems' website this morning to see... duh duh duh! more about that stupid "Healthy Virginians" plan. Cause no party is immune to thinking that the thing to do to make people healthy is fight The Fat. The Fat is EVIL.

well, after I told her I was voting Republican today

why would you do a thing like that? :-p

not trying to criticize, by the way, just really curious.

Not sure about [livejournal.com profile] keryx, but I did it on sort of a "pick your enemy" mentality. Given my area, I wanted the less scary of the republicans on the ballot that way if they win, I dont have run screaming for the hills.

Since I don't have strong feelings of support for any of the lt. gov. candidates, I voted to push the republican side of the ballot to real republicans (that is socially and fiscally non-interventionist perspectives), since I agree with them about 30% of the time, which is only about 10% less than I agree with anyone running on the dem. side. And I did vote for one guy in the primary whom I could see actually voting for; the other two I was just not voting for the assholes.

I had planned to go for Byrne for lt. gov, but was swayed by the promise of record low turnout that might mean my vote could sway the republican ticket.

I voted Republican too. And yes, it's the pick your enemy mentatlity. I was, however, very embarrassed about the whole thing. I fought down the urge to explain to the poll workers that I'm not *really* a Republican, I'm just voting that way ... *sigh*
I am, however, wearing a blue shirt, which I will also wear to three different Republican victory parties tonight and I expect I will stand out and look like a Democratic infiltrator.
Are you by chance, wearing red? That may have labeled you as Republican-looking.

Nope. I'm wearing a black dress and a little black sweater over it.

Of course what I said to the woman was "I'm voting republican TODAY", with a pronounced emphasis on the last word (that made me feel better - like I'm a liberal picking your candidate and YOU CAN'T STOP ME)... so she may have just been trying to small talk me into republican groupthink.
