in case you don't read shapely prose

You should read this.
Step 7: Buy a pet. Having a pet will force you to take walks, which are a form of exercise. This is true unless you make the mistake that I made, which was buying an iguana. Iguanas walk very slowly and smell strongly of turds. I really cannot dissuade you strongly enough from buying an iguana.

Good things to consider a couple of days before many people (including you & me, perhaps?) go all weird with their annual self-recrimination.

If you’re a baby, try pouring water into your mother’s breasts.

ROFL!

It was the idea of water in cereal that got me - both ridiculous and way too close to actual diet advice.

Having a cat won't force you to take walks either, although it may force you to take short, arm-flailing sprints and lunges in a futile effort to prevent the cat from breaking something while entertaining itself, or to keep the cat entertained with an actual cat toy and thus distract it from more breakable objects.

My experience is that having a cat forces you to do a fair number of squats while cleaning up their messes, too.

My cat's messes tend to be on her own back end, so cleaning them up requires chasing her down and holding her under the faucet. Luckily, she's fairly cooperative (especially for a cat!) about being held under the faucet.

I am currently tragically catless, because my cat moved in with my fiancee on Sunday and I don't get to move in with her until tomorrow. I am suffering extreme kitty withdrawal right now.

Do you read tractjean's lj? Every year she has great new year's resolutions like - Give more head!

There's a mom/craft blog I read and last year her resolution was -Eat more pie!

I've decided to take their example and resolve to do some things I enjoy even more than I already do them. I like that much better than resolving to do things that, let's face it, if they were that important to me I'd be doing them already.

More head! I haven't read her - I will now check her out, though.

I make plans when plans make sense, but not resolutions. Like you said, if we really wanted or needed to do those things, we'd be DOING them.

ok, having a dog also does not force you to take walks - apparently this person lives in an area without fenced in backyards...

Hee. Well, I mean, and she was kidding.

Unless your dog refuses to poop in said backyards *glowers at puppydogthing*

Fantastic. I think I shall shred all my fatty clothes and just prance around naked.
