women's equality day
Aug. 26th, 2005 11:21 amToday is "Women's Equality Day". Which actually celebrates a specific milestone: the passage of the 19th amendment in the US (guess they couldn't think of a catchy name for that). In other news, I was proselytising about Victoria's Secret enforcing the idea that appearance is important (more fun from![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
feminist) earlier, but just now almost called someone 'lovely', which in a teeeeeny way implies appearance focus, too. It's only one of the million mostly more significant ways I'm on that particular bandwagon [The vast number of VS bras in my closet don't escape me, kids!], but it's frustrating not being able to live up to your own ideals seconds after you espouse them.
