I remember hearing or reading awhile back about someone doing an activist event where a bunch of fat women basically hung out on the street asking passersby the age-old question "Do I look fat?" - I imagine the reactions to that were quite interesting.

I wonder if it changed people? I mean, I'm sure it affected the people who did the event; I wonder about the people who saw it.

And I also wonder what would happen if it were a more blended group gender- and size-wise. I wonder enough that I'm tempted to organize such a thing. It's the sort of mixed activism/social experiment that I can really get behind. Do you need a permit to stand on the street in a marginally organized fashion and ask people if you look fat?

In other only vaguely related news, dates (September 1-3) have been announced for this year's NOLOSE, and they're okay dates for me. Anyone want to come with me?
