If you are anti-gentrification, why are you (it seems) looking mainly at gentrified apartments? One of the things I think is the most offensive about gentrification -- well maybe not the most offensive, because there's a long list -- but gah I *hate* the way they strip out all the original fixtures and cabinets and stuff and replace them with cheapo Lowe's contractor-grade stuff. Aren't there apartments in Manchester/Shockoe/Grace Street area that retain the original look and quality of the interior?
Disclaimer: I lived in one of those Lowe's-fixtured Shockoe lofts for a couple of years in the early '90s and it was okay for what it was.
