Also in all the weekend fun, I had the intriguing challenge of repeatedly having to try to not be an asshat about other peoples' efforts around their body/weight/health.
I think I did okay.
I mean. I really do get why someone might want to adjust their size to their existing clothes (I've been trying to figure out if there's a healthy way to gain girth, or at least stop losing it). And I am totally and completely in favor of people eating less crap or moving more, in any way that is fun and accessible to them. I want my friends to feel good. I just don't want them to do stupid things, which for the most part they are not - they're smart people.
But yeah, still squeamish about the weight talk. I'm trying. I'm really really trying to let my equivocating "hey I kinda get everyone's side on this one" side win out over the "YOU SAID DIET" side in these cases. It's not that I'm going to be any less self-righteous [Really, people! Who do you think I am?], but I'd like to at least be able to talk to my peeps about things they're doing that are really not all that different from the things I've been doing, except perhaps in the language used to describe our goals.
