I must not have stated that well enough, because I in fact agree with you. What I find problematic isn't the individual motivation AT ALL - in fact, I don't find individual motivation to be the problem with any of these surgical alterations - but only the reinforcement of a culture gender duality (which in this case is sometimes simply incidental, sometimes conscious, and generally wildly variant in terms of the individual's reasons for making the choice).
