even more reason not to watch the overhyped "goodbye girl" movie

While we're cooking, eating dinner and chilling on weeknights, we consistently watch TNT's daytime primetime thing (Angel and Charmed re-runs, yay). So I figured my perception that their remake of Neil Simon's "Goodbye Girl" movie was hyped within an inch of my sanity was influenced a bit by seeing the ads a bazillion times a week.

Then Patricia Heaton shows up on the Today Show, on a totally other network, and they're still hyping this same movie. Did it not come out like a month ago?

Anyway, I've added to the list of reasons not to watch:
1. It's Neil Simon. He is the devil.
2. I'm tired of that Hootie video.
3. DEFY THE CAPITALIST MACHINE.
4. I like Jeff Bridges, but I'm only iffy about Patricia Heaton. Did I mention the hatred for all things Neil Simon?
5. And my new, favorite, reason: Patricia Heaton is plastered all over Feminists for Life, which is an organization I find really illogical.

i so don't suffer fools

The new week's question is up at We Have Brains: why do people act like idiots around feminists, and how should we address them? And the answer is what?

My theory is on my blog. In all honesty, I don't think I could tolerate people who thought stupid anti-feminist things for long, but I don't get angry about it unless it's from other feminists and people who know me (in other words, people who ought to know better).

I'm on the email lists of all the democratic presidential candidates, and I think I can say one thing is true following the debates last night.

They are all wankers. *

Oh, sure, some of them have really good ideas, but they all had to do the "woot! woot!" fratboy thing about how they just totally rocked the debate (albeit not in quite those words). A lot of alliteration and such. Fist-pumping. No one ever says - you know, so-and-so-other-candidate made a really good point about X. I wish they would.

That said, I will of course vote for any of them, even if they grow extra heads, over W.

* Except for Carol Moseley Braun, whose list never sends me anything and therefore can't send me any wanking.
