In case you haven't heard, Betty Friedan died this weekend. Good journey, Ms. Friedan.

It seems like the year of all the famous second wavers kicking it. Sigh.

In honor of her passing, I went looking for a photo of myself dressed as the Feminine Mystique from a Halloween party a few years ago, but I can't find it.

It was a 50s-style party dress, with an apron, naughty 50s-style undies, a variety of props I don't remember (though one was a fake bottle of Valium), extremely coiffed hair, and I think some sort of shit-kicking boots.

And you adore me because I'm adorable, of course.

I had a personal moment of horror today. Reading the news, I announced "OH! Betty Friedan just died!" My two beloved housemates, who, in their defense, have a lot of other good points, both gave me a blank look. "Who?"
