If we did the thing I talked about awhile ago, where we pick a spot & stand and ask passersby if they think we look fat, what kind of prep would that require? I seriously have no idea, but I'd like to try it.

The idea is pretty simple - get a bunch of people together, give them little informational flyers, and have them canvas an outdoor public space asking people if they (the actors/activists) look fat. Gauge reactions, engage people in discussion.

Two
I think dancing and teaching dance are acts of defiance as-is. But I wonder if Richmond could support its own Big Moves-style organization?

That I have a better idea how to start, because, well - I've already started dance and theatre groups before.

Three
Why aren't there local(ish) chapters of size-activist orgs? Why are the local chapters of national feminist orgs so quiet?

Write to Marina at Big Moves...I'm sure they'd love to have you on board and they'd likely be open to setting up a Big Moves chapter where you are.

As for item one, Marilyn Wann would probably have ideas and resources. Let me know if you need her email.

Excellent suggestions! I expect I'll be able to talk to, or at least glean inspiration from, the folk at the FAT-A conference in a few weeks, too. I met Marilyn in SF, actually, so maybe she'll remember me & I can use that for more suggestions.
