Meme from [livejournal.com profile] tirani and everyone else on the planet. ;)

Go into your LJ's archives.
Find your 23rd post (or closest to).
Find the fifth sentence (or closest to).
Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions.

"Eventually a guy will come along and make you feel so unbelievably beautiful...and by then, hopefully you'll know yourself that you are."

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I'm quoting an email I got from someone else, there. It was an example of how ridiculously unfeminist the fat advocacy community can be. I haven't really had an LJ for long enough for my 23rd post to be unrecognizable to me, but I'm so glad this meme could bring that annoyance right back up for me. The joy!

I don’t have 23 posts. But, for reasons of my own, I’m so feeling your ire about the lack of feminist perspective in the fat advocacy community. So. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Yikes! Why oh why oh why do we need have have a man to validate ourselves? ARGH!!!!!! You're quite right in saying that the fat advocacy community can be ridiculously unfeminist, particularly when it comes to the idea of beauty. *sigh*

Yeah, sometimes it seems like all the community wants is seats that fit and for the world to see that fat women are just as sexy, plucked, shaved, made up and crammed into uncomfortable shoes as skinny women. Because hey, all we really need is the love of a good man.

AAAAAAAAAAAAGH.
