The angry-making thing first: more about the implications of VA's "Marriage Affirmation Act". To make it all about ME, it means as an unmarried opposite sex couple, we will either have our rights voided, too - or we're in a position where we get more benefits than our shacked up gay friends. It also means that even the liberal domestic partner benefits provided by companies like mine may be called into question.
It is, in short, a law of ASS. A law of BOLLOCKS written by DICKWEEDS. [Hey, should I take a moment to mention this LJ is not child-safe?]
And the news. Doesn't even speak of it. It's on a remote page of the paper. Instead, it's more news of Iraq (which is just a repeat of national news sources). Is everyone else's local news like this? Or is it a Virginia thing?
Also, if you're coming off your March high and thinking what's next?, you might start with NOW's 10 for Change campaign.
I'm in a play this weekend. A play that happens to coincide in date and location with the local LadyFest. So, hey, chickfest for me two weekends in a row! My life rocks. I'd tell all y'all locals to come see the show, but it might suck. It's so hard to tell when you're in it.
I've been contemplating a couple of media luxuries. Like, we have dialup at our house. I'd kinda like to go DSL/cable modem and kill our land line and dialup internet service (we almost exclusively use our cell phones). If we could do that reliably without buying bigger cell service plans, the cost would actually balance out. Or I could get XM radio for my car. Or I could put aside a little money to acquire a shiny new laptop. Or we could replace the battery and AirPort for the old laptop. [All of these things would obviously have to happen after whatever works out with paying back The Not So Evil Corporate Giant for the wages they accidentally overpayed me for years.] What would you choose? Or is there some other technical marvel I'm missing out on?
Oh, and the best "in other news" yet... It has finally dawned on me that we're leaving for Hawaii two weeks from tomorrow! Rock.
