keryx: (birthday)

I am now in my new apartment. I mean, I'm not actually in it, but my stuff is. I'm at [livejournal.com profile] arovd and [livejournal.com profile] cutegaychick's house cause their internet works and mine doesn't. Living in the suburbs had one advantage - open wireless networks all over my block.

Today so far: I've traumatized my cats so badly (one of them - there was water and a broom involved) they've completely disappeared into the new apartment, met some delightful movers who put things in weird places, worked from my kitchen counter, discovered that my new place is tiny (well, okay... knew that, but I thought I'd gotten rid of enough stuff) had sushi served by the world's sweetest and most absolutely terrible waiter, vaguely set up my bedroom, broken my dresser, had my washing machine refuse to let my clothes go, had a meltdown requiring hot cocoa, cried, eaten tacos and ice cream.

Now I am sitting here in companionable silence with [livejournal.com profile] cutegaychick because they live 5 minutes from me and have taken pity on my pathetic state this afternoon/evening.

On the other hand, you're having a better day than the cat who was trapped in a kitchen cabinet, doused with water for no reason whatsoever, hit with a broom, smothered with a towel and then shoved into a tiny box for a long and bumpy car ride to the ghetto.

The poor cat didn't even get tacos and ice cream. So it could be worse.

Also, we really should have gotten a big strong man to fix the dresser. I hear men are more genetically predisposed towards things like nails.

Hey, my feminist sensibilities are offended!

Also, what we really needed was for either of us to be smart enough to turn the damned thing on its side instead of nailing at floor level.

Eh, we're girls. What do we know about tools?

I know all about duct tape and its wondrousness, for one. And also, I really do know that it's easier to hammer from above than from the floor. :)

Oh surreeee. Now you know that. You didn't know that when you had the hammer in your hand.

Also, my Inara is hotter than your Zoe.

I'm just...amazed you even tried to hammer at floor level.

Agh! Look, cat, I didn't have anything to do with it, really. I mean, I was just there for moral support. I was all like, "hey, let's just leave them some catnip and kitty treats and maybe they'll come out on their own." Also, I suggested giving you some Captain Morgan's. It was keryx who decided that throwing a glass of water on you would be a good idea. I was like, "no, let's not do that - that would be mean and bad" but she made me do it! I swear! I was only acting under orders. So if there's any retribution to be delivered, it should definitely be on her head, not mine. Really. I love cats. Especially you.

Whatever, bitches. I know what you look like. I know what you smell like. You are The Enemy.

Plus, my mama feeds me tasty things and pets me.

Take it from me, dude, don't trust anything and human says or does when they start talking about this "moving" thing. Until you are luxuriously and fabulously ensconced in the new place, they are all The Enemy. I'm not kidding. People are clumsy and silly enough as it is, and moving makes it even worse!

Trust no one, my brother from another mother,

Sue

True dat. Really the only thing to do is hide under the bed growling. Humans are no good, my friend.

But I might come out for snuggles while she's asleep.

Eventful? Yes, that it most definitely was. And you're right - it does get better.
