some essentials.
May. 17th, 2004 03:41 pmThese are the essential things I know as I troll the internet today.
1. Technology is a beautiful thing. The essential human interaction allowed among so many relative strangers online is much barer and more touching than the level of interaction between similarly relative strangers in real life. The cellphone helps you pick your kid out of a graduating class of hundreds, your friends from a crowd of a million. It lets you turn your plans on a dime. Next person who tells me people don't "truly" interact over either of these forms of technology gets a kick in the head, I tell ya.
2. I am and have always been really, really, really lucky. My life is remarkably painless.
3. Massachusetts rocks. And not just cause it's fun to spell. Although it's rather cold and not fun to drive there, I think the reasonable attitude towards marriage pretty much trumps minor logistical annoyances like that.
Unessential, but ironic... LJ is now banned from the office network at precisely the right time, as work has suddenly become vastly busier and the compulsion to check in on LJ again and again really can be distracting.
