I went by the SPCA yesterday to indulge my fantasy of becoming a true cat lady. My kittehs get along surprisingly well, especially since we moved into the enormous house that they clearly love. I grew up in a house that never had fewer than 2, and often 4 or 5, cats. I met a sibling pair who made awesome lap cats & would probably consent to be dressed up in outfits; I came very close to bringing them home.

But. Do we need another cat?

Lose MORE of his mind? I can only imagine.

I think mine will freak out a little at first, which is why I'd foster rescue dogs. That way the dog isn't permanent in case it just drives the cats nuts.

I base my opinion about Nicolas on the fact that while he's gotten used to Hero, I think it impacted his quality of life, and he'd prefer to be The Only Cat. Overall I think he feels like he's stuck with his stinky brother as a roommate out of familial duty but would kick him out... if only he could.

I can only imagine how a dog would make him feel! He'd pout forever.

A dog does not preclude additional cats. My parents (who have much more yard and free time) have 4+ dogs and 3 or more cats at any given time.
