I am apparently completely clueless. I had no idea Barack Obama would be the only black person in the Senate. How blatant a reminder that this country is still racist is that?

Of course, there's also no (as far as I know) gay member of the Senate. And only like 15 (if that many) women.

The Senate sucks, is what I'm saying. We need to change that.

To be totally fair here, there's at least two other nonwhite senators: Inouye and Akaka of Hawaii.

Daniel Inouye is my boyfriend. He's the only politician I ever had a crush on. And I even met him once when I was in high school. :)
