I'm having a deeelicious lunch. Vaguely southwesterly salmon and avocado and little bitty corns. And a pomegranate Yum. And filled with good fats, too - just like me. I'm all about this new making my own teevee dinners plan; I baked both this salmon and some tuna last night so I can have non-processed, non-salad bar lunches for the rest of the week. Cheaper and better in every way.

The cafeteria salad bar lunch symbolizes desperation and "girly" eating to me. I can't count the number of times I had a chicken patty, a waffle and the marginally okay bits off the salad bar for a meal freshman year of college, for one. And there are so many messages that salad is a woman's domain (eating is bad, particularly if you're seen doing it) that I really don't want to be another one. Even if the salad bar is the least unappealing thing in the cafeteria. So I just don't eat in the cafeteria.

Most of you don't work as far from decent lunch take-out as I do, so the desperation thing may be hard for you to comprehend. It's 15 minute drive from my desk to non-cafeteria food.

In other news, I need a pecan pie recipe. Any recommendations? Keep in mind that I do not bake and am making this pie under duress.
