I know, I know, I hate the freaking Vagina Monologues, but [livejournal.com profile] zorah's come up with a brilliant way around her lawskool's prohibition against selling tickets - she'll give them away (with your help). So if you've got eight bucks and want to flout the system and give a little to [livejournal.com profile] countercrisis, read the post.

I mean, you don't have to actually watch the show, and you'll be supporting its one really good purpose - uniting a community of women. It's a good thing, really.

you rock. I was so afraid I was being a cantankerous fringe element by admitting to the "hey, you don't actually have to watch the show!" aspect of this fundraiser. :-)

hee hee hee!

I have never actually SEEN the VM's, but I am doing two momologues myself this year. Hey! We have a transgendered piece this year, I hear that was a serious problem in the past.

I know y'all would come see ME.

speaky for yourself. i'm rather attached to my panties. but i'd happily throw YOUR panties on stage, since you're ready to part with them and all.

[although, i'm just a little concerned that this is going to kick off some huge snail-mailing-panties project. ;)]

hee hee! I could bring you some to throw. Although if you're actually attached to yours, may I recommend a warm sitz bath? ;-p

what's a sitz bath? and of course my attachment is more emotional/financial than physical, silly.

i've always thought thrift stores should accept more (clean, obviously) used undies. then you could get like 10 pair for a buck and keep them to throw when required.

They could package them specifically for throwing, and thus get around Board of Health violation issues. Though I still worry that they would be purchased by scary old men instead....

yeah, you could sew up all the holes in a way that made them unwearable if re-opened.

but yes, the scariness quotient is still high. very high.

I saw a kick-ass staging of it a couple of years ago, directed by a lesbian, and which included a monologue written by a transwoman who performed it herself. It was otherwised performed by several very diverse college students, to a crowd that completely filled the room, and the atmosphere was generally fantastic that evening. It's one of my best memories from my time at that college.
