Where would one find the rules about setting things on fire (like poi, not like small children!) in your backyard in the city of Richmond?

I mean. If I'm gonna have this ginormous yard.

I was thinking more about setting things on fire and spinning them around. Which strangely is not obviously listed in any of the city's rules.

I think this one: http://www.ci.richmond.va.us/departments/fire/prevention/Open_Burning_Recreational_Fires.aspx

Might be more appropriate. I'd recommend having all the fire safety equipment required. I suspect since it is not actually a ground-based fire you could probably get away with not having a permit (one doesn't need a permit for grilling, for example), but I would also pay careful attention to the wildfire risk level. If they start banning bonfires due to high fire risk, then definitely seek a permit first; permitting helps them know *where* fire might be in advance.

Squee! The neighbors are gonna love you! And I mean that sincerely. Poi spinning will probably the most exciting thing that's happened on that street without being a felony in decades.
